The preservation of our environment was once an issue reserved for the scientists, ecologists and naturalists who undertook a seemingly unilateral struggle against the encroachment of civilization upon Mother Nature. Efforts to preserve rainforests and other priceless natural resources were viewable only in National Geographic articles and on the evening news, when, say, a Greenpeace demonstration had somehow managed to prevent an industrialized enterprise from advancing destructively.
What was once a small, grassroots and spirited movement has grown, and with greater social awareness of global climate and environmental issues comes greater social responsibility.

In 2006, a group of family and friends came together to create the Save Your World project. Its mission is to provide financial support for and increase public awareness of the need to conserve our natural resources. The company adheres to a simple yet well-conceived standard of practice that strives to design, produce and market its products around the all-too-necessary need to replenish natural resources and save the world in which we live for future generations.

When Save Your World was created, it was important for us to put out a message that would appeal to consumers in a heartfelt but effective manner. We wanted our customers to know exactly what their purchases would accomplish in order to make this world a better place. But even with established global brands it is difficult for consumers to know exactly what “a percentage of profits” or “part of the proceeds” means in dollar-value or bang-for-the-buck terms. What is the tangible benefit, the result customers can easily comprehend, and with which they can identify and actively engage?

In order to further address the transparency issue, Save Your World has partnered with the world-renowned organization, Conservation International (CI), a nonprofit applying innovations in science, economics, policy and community participation to protect the Earth’s biodiversity. Consumers can be confident Save Your World, in partnering with such a reputable organization, is completely vetted by one of the leading conservation entities in the world. The first conservation project Save Your World partnered with CI is a renewable 30-year lease protecting 200,000 acres of pristine rainforest in Southern Guyana. Save Your World, through an agreement with CI, replaces destructive enterprises such as logging and mining by leasing land from the Guyanese government’s Forestry Commission, thus protecting and maintaining the land in its pristine state.

Recently, Save Your World began its second conservation initiative partnering with Conservation International and the New England Aquarium to support the Phoenix Islands Protected Area (PIPA), the world’s largest marine protected area, encompassing untouched ocean and coral atolls in the South Pacific nation of Kiribati (pronounced KIRR-i-bas).

Through an agreement being negotiated with the government of Kiribati, Save Your World will help to fund the protection and management of this amazing site. Nestled in a remote area in the South Pacific, halfway between Hawaii and Fiji, the Phoenix Island Protected area is one of the world’s last intact coral archipelago ecosystems. Surveys in 2000 and 2003 pronounced the coral reef and bird populations of the islands as unique and virtually untouched by man.

In declaring the Phoenix Islands Protected Area in 2006, the Government of Kiribati entered into an agreement with its partners Conservation International and New England Aquarium. Kiribati protects the area – limiting access to fisheries and controlling development of the region’s atolls – and in return receives support for management and is compensated for lost revenue from fishing licenses through payments from an endowed trust. Under this arrangement conservation has, for the first time, become a realistic alternative to more conventional sources of economic development. On signing our agreement Save Your World, will join with its customers to directly channel support to the Government and people of Kiribati for the protection of this amazing site.
